Living the summer

While Livigno is a highly popular winter resort, it loses none of its charm in the summer months, with its sweeping Alpine meadows, its pure air and invigorating climate. Walking on the numerous hiking trails is a pleasure for families with children and dedicated climbers alike, and other trails are perfect for mountain bike enthusiasts.

August sees the famous off-road mountain-bike marathon, the Pedaleda, which every year attracts bikers from all over the Alps, and at the beginning of September Livigno comes alive with the Free Wheel Fest, a great festival of free-riding, with breathtaking downhill runs.

The Stralivigno, a high altitude half-marathon, is also held in August, along a route of 20 km through the wide valley where the town is located.

Horseback-riding, tennis and many other sports are also available in a number of specialized centers. The summer evenings are enlivened by the many festivals of culture and folk tradition which are a prominent feature of the area.
