The plateau of Livigno, which has been described as “the little Tibet of the Alps”, is located in Valtellina in the north of Lombardy Region. This broad Alpine valley can be reached from the Italian side via the Foscagno Pass, from Switzerland via the Forcola Pass (closed in winter) or the Munt La Schera Tunnel. Abundant winter snowfalls and a pleasantly cool summer climate attract many tourists every year.
The fairy-tale landscape is home to a wealth of culture and folk traditions, and offers a wide range of sports from Nordic and Alpine skiing to snowboarding, mountain-biking and the most demanding of mountain climbs. Livigno presents visitors with a year-round calendar of cultural and sporting events, including several devoted to art, and wine and food.
